Charlie Endell
Courtesy of Shuggy Spicer - the top map (from '54 - '55) includes Ibrox station, but there isn't a passenger line running behind the North Stand, which would tend to suggest the lines there were just goods sidings. A bit of foresight from planners would have gone a long way. Should have kept it all.
Toepoke
A bit of foresight from planners would have gone a long way. Was sadly lacking in the 1960s...
Charlie Endell
Ibrox could also be reached from St Enoch as the Ayrshire trains departed from there (using the City Union line, which is still in place - it's now only used occasionally to move rolling stock about - it joins the Paisley line at Shields Junction). Big Col
What train line was that running past the "Govan Stand"? The Princes Dock Joint Railway. google says the track was lifted in 1970
jimstroma
The Princes Dock Joint Railway. google says the track was lifted in 1970 Good job it was lifted or they would not have been able to build the Louden Tavern

the Sunnylaw Jag
Looks quite busy, was it a local derby with Stenhousemuir? Although here is a video of how it looked a while ago. EddardStark
When did the Albion Training Ground get bulldozed? Despite visiting Ibrox when it would have been there I can only seem to remember a car park on the site. It was certainly there through the 80's but was developed as part of the deal to build the club deck at Ibrox "After one and a half years of work, the new Club Deck at Ibrox was opened in 1991. Partly funded by a debenture scheme, the work had cost £20 million and added 7,169 seats to Ibrox’s capacity. Because Archibald Leitch’s Main Stand was now a listed building, the new tier had to be constructed without damage to the existing stand. The original stand had a temporary roof put over it while work went on above it so that life could go on as normal for those fans who preferred to sit in the Main Stand. To gain planning permission for the Club Deck, Rangers had to convert their training ground, The Albion, 100 yards away from the stadium, into a car park. Before it had become the club’s training ground, The Albion had been a greyhound racing track, only a couple of hundred yards away from another one, The White City!"
