Bison Grass Vodka

Recommended Posts

So, we went for a traditional Polish Ruby Murray on Wednesday night in an establishment just across from our hotel in Warsaw.

Surprisingly good Indian grub for a restaurant not in Glasgow.

The serving chap gave us a complementary glass of vodka after the meal.

Lady Flure, who does not drink vodka, adjudged it to be "rather nice".

Upon interrogation, the serving chap explained that it was a vodka-honey-citrus-spice combo.

He then recommended a vodka named "Bison Grass" which he told us was very popular and was like "apple pie".

I recalled that I had seen such a product in the Executive Lounge in our hotel which, obviously, we had access to.

Anyway, I asked for this in the hotel and asked for it to be served with, as advised, apple juice,

Friends, this was magnificent. It was like Apple Strudel in a glass.

I had several.

Next morning, I had a sair heid. I blame the apple.

Anyways, we bumped into Jimmy's Lassie and Jimmy's Lassie's Man in Warsaw Airport and I was telling this story.

"Oh, aye. Bison Grass? Great stuff", they said. "We drink it frequently".

"Frequently", asked I? "Where do you get it"?

"ASDA", they said.

Nothing's sacred any more.

Aye, I know.

I saw in Morrison's tonight "Smifnoff Apple" vodka.

What do we think?

Go into you local polish shop and ask them.

There's even websites out there that'll deliver your order of any vodka you want.

Even Amazon!

It's called Zubrowka and it's said that the bison piss on the grass to give its flavour, not the apple strudel mind you ;-)

Asda is on the list.

I think the bison does something a bit more substantial than just piss on the grass. It's not real "bison grass" vodka unless the grass has gone in one end and all the way through and oot the other end. It's basically the bits of grass that the bison can't digest. It gives it a wonderful flavour.

IT WAS A JOKE!

I have no emicoms on my iPad.

I think it is simply grass that bison eat there. Along with their vodka I suppose, that was another joke btw.

Got LOADS of Zubrowka here. Frequently out in Poland so pick up a few bottles for Christmas and birthdays etc. it's very very cheap over there.

The Bison Grass goes down well with Apple juice.

My brother in law, always drives over and brings back cigarettes and vodka to supplement his journey as it saves him fortunes.

A Polish guy that works for my brother gave me a couple of bottles of that a year or so back, they come in a tin container (or at least these ones don't). Not really a vodka drinker, and to be honest I had forgotten all about them, but may have to give Flure's recommendation a try.

I drank it once when i lived in London - my Polish neighbour introduced me to it.

It was so good i ordered a taxi to take me home at 3am one bank holiday weekend

He lived at number 9, i lived at number 13 - they were terraced houses
