I Never Realised How Much Middle-Class, English W@nk There Was On Christmas Tv

Recommended Posts

In no particular order :

To the Manor born

The Proms

Military Wives

Mrs von Windsor's lecture

University Challenge

Miranda Hart

Call the Midwife with 'Chummy' (Miranda Hart)

Tim Rice

Downton Abbey

And some pish next week called Mapp and Lucia. Fuxsake.

It's only now that I realise how people's perception of being 'British' is dictated by what we see on TV.

Merry christmas. Bah feckin humbug.

To be fair, it may be reflecting the tastes of licence fee payers (ie actual people actually paying their licence fees...?)

Conservatory ? Fuxsake...are you Miranda Hart ?

:-))

I think i noticed Vicar of dibley too

and notting hill?

(didn;t see if love actually was on the schedules but usually in there somewhere)

but hey there is always eastenders, which (last time I looked anyway) seems to have surgically removed any trace of middle class-ness from what should surely by now be a gentrified east london

Just check out the shite that appears on the BBC particularly.....loads of 'safe', 1930's/40's/50's middle English drama and/or comedy, apparently reflecting how Britain looked and/or should look.

It's our kultchoor, don't you know.

between yesterday and today, I've watched 6 films on Netlfix, along with the entire 6th series of Sons of Anarchy.

Interspersed with this, I've been playing the odd bit of lego batman 3 on my ps4.

Anybody who watches the tv at chrimbo is a daftie!!
