PASTA Mick
Griffiths is the man on fire. I'd start him against Qatar and if he does well, I'd start him against Ireland.

Nine thumbs up there for The man that looks like a thumb I find it hard to like him as he seems like such a f@nny, fast forward a month and he scores the winner in Dublin my mind may have changed. M'on the Thumb! :ok:
Jagtag
True true. Im not his biggest fan but I do wish him well. If I was a manager and I had a choice of buying Fletcher or Rhodes, then I would be doing all I could to get Rhodes That's probably the reason you are not a manager. Rhodes is great at the level he played but there is a reason that Premiership clubs aren't in a rush to sign him. He is slow. Very slow. Fletcher is a good player who should score more than he does but he creates a lot of goals and that's the reason Premiership clubs will buy him. Haha, aye thats the reason that im not a manager. just my opinion, I think Rhodes is a better finisher than Fletcher, and deserves a place in the squad. Fletcher isnt any faster than Rhodes, and to say he creates a lot of goals is a bit much, probably set up around 5 goals this season. Do premiership clubs want Fletcher? Will Rhodes move on to better things? I hope both are true

When Burnley ( a premiership club) went down Wolves (a premiership club) bought Fletcher. When Wolves went down Sunderland (a premiership club) bought him. I'd say that answers your question. I like Rhodes and would love to see him in the Premiership banging in goals. I just can't see it happening or it would have happened by now. girvanTA
Im quite sure there are a few clubs in the premier league that are interested in Rhodes however Blackburns valuation of £14 million will put off alot of clubs. According to a Sunderland forum Fletcher is favourite to be sold. Listen, I hope both players get good moves in the future and bang them in left, right and centre at the highest level. But I dont get all the hype by some supporters over Fletcher, 3 goals against Gibraltar doesnt make you a world beater imo
Caledonian Craig
But I dont get all the hype by some supporters over Fletcher, 3 goals against Gibraltar doesnt make you a world beater imo Fletcher's game is not all about goalscoring. His worth to the side also comes in his link-up play where he has created goals for us. Very true that he is not a prolific goalscorer but we have not had one of them for a very long time. girvanTA
I think that much is obvious regarding Fletcher, but how often do you have an out and out goal scorer who has scored over 70 in 3 seasons and cant get in the squad?

But lets add that is one who has never played top level club football and it puts a slightly different slant on things. Now I hear people demean Fletcher and say he only got three against a rank Gibraltar side but need I remind people that Rhodes did get 25 minutes against them when they were tiring and more susceptible at the back and he never looked like scoring. He did set up a goal though. There's no doubting he should be in more squads - Maybe he just needs that move to the EPL which will probably come this summer given his record in the last 3 championship seasons. Caledonian Craig
What exactly has Griffiths done for Celtic recently that i'm missing? I have no expectations whatsoever of Griffiths but the harsh reality is that he is among the best options we have right now after the likes of Steve Fletcher and Steve Naismith. He merits his place in the squad but for me that is more down to an utter lack of striker options available than Griffiths being on the brink of being a goalscoring machine for us. ParisInAKilt
Its not about changing a winning side, its about making that winning side better Seems a gamble not worth taking. By all means give Griffiths or someone else a chance against Qatar but Fletcher will start in Ireland.

PASTA Mick
And what is people's real need to want to change a winning side? 1. It was months ago. Form changes. 2. We are playing a different team. Horses for courses and all that. 3. Other factors like injuries and suspensions need to be considered.
ParisInAKilt
1. It was months ago. Form changes. 2. We are playing a different team. Horses for courses and all that. 3. Other factors like injuries and suspensions need to be considered. I'm specifically talking about Fletcher and Griffiths so don't think 2 and 3 are relevant unless Fletcher gets injured or suspended. I don't see many international teams changing forwards half way through a campaign unless forced to do so, even more so when the team is winning games. Bannannan
A "poacher" type of striker doesn't seem to be inWGS's plans. Can't see Fletcher being displaced.
