phart
Just read a summary of it, as a cynic i'm not surprised at all by the level of collusion and it stretches way beyond cycling in my opinion. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/31789849
phart
Reading through it i See AICAR getting mentioned in it as well A wee post of mine from 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 - 11:01 PM ps get yourself on AICAR if you want to lose weight like a real pro Seems like the UCI has just signed off on a lot of things most educated people were aware of at the time. Possible motorised bikes as well is hinted at, i must admit i thought those seemed a bit far fetched at the time. I'm not even cynical enough
phart
David Millar coming across as a cawk as well.
thplinth
Motorized bikes?! FFS...do tell more. Same with the cockishness of Millar, what's that all about?
phart
Using battery operated motors hidden in the stem of the bike which you could activate to get more power at certain stages. Nothing concrete just mentioned that cheating with regards to equipment. David Millar is an awesome Self-publicist but he is in my mind a liar and fantasist. He is criticising the report saying it's unfair as all the riders are clean now and blah di blah. Was going to take Kimmage to court for libel, but then got busted weeks later proving Kimmage correct. He's just seems full of shit to me.

I guess with top of the line light weight batteries... but how the hell do they convert that into physical drive on the bike with no one noticing anything on the bike. Amazing if true. Millar always seemed a little evangelical post coming clean. I would bet that all the top guys including the brits are at it. I would bet all the tennis guys are it it too. Pretty much any sport where big bucks rule will be riddled with it.
phart
I think they're going to move onto gene-doping soon then it's just a whole new level. If i were in charge of army intelligence i'd be using athletes for guinea pigs for all the stuff you want to use on your troops. Just filter it into the system and watch the effects etc. Everyone is at it, Lance Armstrong and Barcelona didn't share a Doctor out of co-incidence. Tiger Woods just happened to give A-rods doctor almost 100k. A lot of it is done via therapuetic use exemptions so they get to dope for free. I see Mo Farah's training buddy just got popped. Although someone said Mo said he doesn't know them, even though they tweeted pictures of them training together.
bajin
Doping's getting so sophisticated that I think it's a losing battle trying to fight it. Especially in sports with loads of money, where the athletes/teams can easily outspend the doping authorities.
thplinth
I think they're going to move onto gene-doping soon then it's just a whole new level. Taking this beyond sport I strongly suspect that secret and/or private eugenics programs will be in operation. Build a super human using modern medical knowledge (not 1930's knowledge)...and then weaponize it. Edited March 10, 2015 by thplinth

Especially in sports with loads of money, where the athletes/teams can easily outspend the doping authorities. If you use a bio-passport then you can catch a lot of things. As the UCI report showed it's the complicity of dopers and their governing bodies which really hinder things. However thats extremely expensive and as you say the money is all on one side really.
