WeeBarrysGotAnMBE's Achievements

  1. Let's just say there were plenty of people in that crowd last night who are used to practicing the art of xenophobia.
  2. I don't suspect John Collins will be overly enamoured with his behaviour. Pretty poor to see our National Team captain in such a state and perhaps the Gibraltar game is ideal to send a message, but some are going way over the top.
  3. If FIFA want it, they will be met by unbelievably extreme opposition by 4 powerful associations, perhaps more. It will never happen.
  4. Why on Earth would the FA want it to happen? The English fans would burn down their offices for one thing.
  5. Why would we do that? There is absolutely no chance of that ever happening.
  6. Whilst I'm against the idea, and against football as an Olympic event entirely, it's not really that big a deal is it? Our independence as a football nation will always remain intact. Banning players for representing TeamGB? Get a grip ffs
  7. Austerity measures will continue, yes. As I said, the NHS is a debatable subject. Many healthcare professionals suggested it was safer in the Union, others disagreed. I'd wager that wouldn't be the case at all. Nobody knows what would've happened. It's as simple as that. There's insufficient evidence to suggest poverty levels would improve in an Independent Scotland. Getting back to my original point, to suggest No-voters were just in it for themselves and don't care about those in poverty is a completely unfair assumption. Yes, after the initial name-calling and pettiness, things settled down a bit.
  8. They are not GUARANTEED to continue. I'd imagine the fact they are only POTENTIALLY avoidable in an uncertain Independent Scotland worried people.
  9. If FoS is regarded as a Nationalist anthem, we should never have been singing it in the first place. However, we've been doing just that for a number of years now and it has become Scotland's anthem, no matter your politics. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't continue.
  10. It all depends which campaign you believed to be fair. The NHS was debated on many an occasion, and I'm not convinced we reached any conclusions. It could face continuing privatisation under the UK government. It could suffer in an Independent Scotland. As I said, there are several arguments for voting Yes or No, some personal, some not. Some of the No voters I know are traditional Labour, including one ex-Communist. I'm not sure they'd be too happy being told they were just thinking for themselves. Other reasons I've heard mentioned included not wanting to abandon the rest of the British working class, who'd potentially suffer. We have no idea how our political landscape would've looked, especially with everyone fighting for power. Would we have eventually seen a resurgent Scottish Tory Party, perhaps releasing themselves from the shackles of Thatcher? UKIP also have there supporters up here, who would they align themselves with? We could argue about the SNP's politics but we'll save that for another day. All I'm saying is there wasn't necessarily a class war. It all depended on your initial beliefs.
  11. Woah, woah, woah.Surely if people think there are risks with Independence, they're also considering the people living in poverty. If things were a bit turbulent post-Independence, I reckon I'd get by. I'm not sure I could say the same about those living in poverty. The figure could potentially increase. There is also no evidence to suggest the poverty figure would improve post-Independence. Nobody knows what our political future would've been. To label the No-voters as just thinking for themselves is completely unreasonable.
  12. I can't speak for No-voters but perhaps they thought an Independent Scotland wouldn't lead to a fairer society, especially if things were initially going to be tough. Nobody could predict what the future held.Perhaps they want to work towards a fairer society throughout the UK.
  13. You may have missed my previous thread, deleted for personal abuse, that set out a number of my complaints. A Mod confirmed that examples of these could be found throughout the board. You could argue all day along about why people voted Yes or No. It is entirely unreasonable to claim No-voters weren't motivated by social justice or a fairer society.
