wembley67lisbon
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/572...ould-be-SNP-MP A SNP parliamentary candidate was last night forced to make a grovelling apology after the Sunday Express revealed he repeatedly used football-related sectarian slurs. By Callum Campbell Brendan OHara, who is the favourite to win the crucial marginal seat of Argyll and Bute, called Rangers supporters huns on a Celtic fans website. It is an extremely insulting and bigoted term for the Ibrox club and their followers, although some would argue it is derogatory to all Protestants. Use of the word has seen a number of people convicted of a criminal offence in Scottish courts and, last year, the Scottish Governments own research revealed that the majority of Scots feel the term is unacceptable. To further add to the SNPs embarrassment, it can also be revealed Mr OHara once described ex-Celtic striker Maurice Johnston as a rat who should not show his face in Glasgow. Johnston became the highest-profile Roman Catholic to play for Rangers. Last night, political opponents and anti-sectarian campaigners blasted the slurs as entirely unacceptable. Mr OHara, 51, has stood for the SNP in two previous General Elections in Springburn in 1987 and Glasgow Central in 1992. Under the pseudonym spikeybhoy, he made the comments on the Kerrydale Street forum. The first came in the days following Celtics signing of Scott Brown in 2007. Despite it being heavily speculated the player was going to move to Rangers, he signed for Celtic for £4.4million. Mr OHara wrote: For those worried about the fee, think of it as £3.5million for the player and £1million to shove it up the huns. A great piece of business! Ffs . Armchair Bob
In the words of our wonderful Scottish press... "SNP candidate Paul McGlumphy once used the word 'gay' on twitter to describe sonething pathetic. This hateful sexual orientation slur has no place in a modern, democratic, tolerant, patriotic Britain. Kill All Romanian Immigrants." Goozay
Pretty standard fare from the Express. Although to be fair, it is a bit more effective than the Daily Mail's "Ed Milliband had girlfriends before he met his wife" exclusive.

Orraloon
I am starting to think that the SNP must be the squeakiest clean bunch of politicians the planet has ever seen, if this is the best they can come up with. Either that or the Labour goons are not very good at digging.

iainmac1
Let the haters hate...... You still hanging around here like a bad smell. The haters are the unionist press who must have spent months now trolling through decades worth of internet posts to try and find something to use against SNP candidates. Utterly pathetic. Oh don't forget one SNP candidate as a teenager woke up beside a can of beer and a pizza. Typical Nazi.
newtownards
This is the problem. ....... Sectarianism/bigotry will flourish if he isn't pulled up on this...... This kind of mindset...... its ok to call them huns! Breeds sectarianism. Its time to end it.

Utterly pathetic. Not defending the "Unionist Press", even though I find the term laughable, but resident Socialist hater, Wine Bibbler advocates the exact same behaviour. Bit of a difference here. One is an influencial media outlet with big wealthy millionaire backers, the other is a poster on a football messageboard. One can corrupt the opionions of the naive, spread lies to the masses and scare the elderly. The other annoys another football messageboard poster called Scunnered

Scunnered
Stories like this make Tommy's behaviour seem almost impeccable. No ones interested in a straight down the middle media, they desire one that confirms their own prejudices. I include myself in this as a Morning Star reader, and point to last week when the National had the audacity to contain an anti SNP story and their hordes descended on it. And look at poor poor James Cook, again the victim of SNP rage last night for the crime of having a day off.
kumnio
Desperate stuff again. To me, Hun is a term for rangers fans, not protestants. Political scandals are really dull nowadays.
