Monthly occurrence over here. Each month it's a different city. Of course the BBC will tell you a simple story of innocent African-Americans struggling with the big bad white man. Instead of reporting the real story each time it happens. Black thugs run amok destroying neighbourhoods with looting, burning and shootings. These "protests" are nothing of the sort. They are orchestrated events to validate their crime sprees. Each week in Chicago alone there is at least 20 odd shootings by black on black and many more hundreds of other crimes. But remember, lads and lassies..... BLACK LIVES MATTER.

You'd have a point if white polis didn't consistently get away with murdering civilians.

It's nothing new, Martin Luther King spoke about it years ago

"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity."

MLK Jr, March 14, 1968, "The Other America

You hit the nail on the head. Civilians! Not black, not white, but civilians! These police officers need taken to task over this. But don't kid yourself on that criminals looting stores, burning properties is anything other than organised crime.

Fvc king hell, just looked into this guys death. It's absolutely horrific.

What the hell did they do to him. He looks like he's dying as they move him into the police van, he has no muscle tone. He's dying there and then.

Horrible. :(

Why would you do the roll eyes emotion after black lives matter, do they not actually?

This...

Same with you, despite the fact your reply was just lazy.

You see it daily do you?

I don't no, but I lived in Hackney when the riots were on in London a few years ago. I am sure there is organised crime between the gangs etc as there was in London, but the reasons run deeper and I am sure you are aware of that.

The number of black men killed by Police in the states over the last year or so has been nothing short of a scandal and you and I both know, again just like London, that there are social factors at play here. Areas that have been decimated and forgotten about, lots of young people with little or no opportunities and sometimes that spills onto the street as the result of an injustice, such as the killing of this young man in police custody.

These people are so disillusioned with life, their voices are not heard and sometimes, if this is what it takes to try and force a change then so be it. The US police however is so entrenched in it's behaviour and it's belief that it can literally get away with murder that is going to take a long time for things to change for the better.

Channel 4 news pretty depressing. Folk trying to improve their community and getting it burnt down.

The underclass in the ghettos have been totally forgotten in America. Rampant American individualistic capitalism at its worst. Anybody who has read any of David Simons books will understand the types of community that are effected here.

I wouldn't say it was individualistic capitalism that has caused the underclass.

It's the drug war and the breakdown of the family that are most to blame imo.

It's not like we don't have an underclass in Britain. It's actually even worse in France which is more socialist than us too.
