I'm open to hearing the reasons of the spfl board. In this current information vacuum it is all a bit strange.

As for the conflict of interest, I would say the exact same thing if rangers representatives were complicit in dishing out fines to other spl clubs. It's not a healthy situation for competitors to be in a position to exert decision making powers over one another because there will always be an apprehension of bias. It's a basic component of natural justice.

Genuine question Bruce.

Is this how the rule book say's it should pan out?

I have no idea. *Shootie in for a few of you surely* :wink2:

If it's always been the case why has it just been decided by the spfl board? It seems to have arisen from thin air.

I highlighted those 3 teams because they are 3 of rangers competitors who are making the decision.

A judge can't hear a case if there is an apprehension of bias. This is a clear case of that - not saying it's actual bias but there's obviously an issue in competitors deciding whether one another should be fined or not. I think any fair minded person would agree with that.

When did those three teams start playing in the lower leagues?

Actually Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic are Rangers' competitors. I'd direct my wrath at them if I were you.

SPFL have a significant financial problem due to lack of sponsors so I imagine is one way of plugging that gap. It looks too contrived and probably means the SPFL will use the old club new club card as a tactic. It will be interesting to see how this develops because the SPFL or whatever form it was in have already withheld funds from Rangers for a range of issues. Another way of looking at is it is part of a broadside against the current regime. This, plus Ally's pay off and a potential failed IPO for £8m in Jan may force the regime into a corner and by releasing this statement on the stock exchange they are trying to get fans on board for their cause.

Hence the name.

Additionally in the judgement from 2013 from Nimmo Smith, he decided:

'The findings also stated that Rangers' current owners should not be held responsible for any breaches made by the previous company'

as I understand the new rangers were to pay off all FOOTBALL debts of old rangers, the fine is a football fine is it not, and therefore there is a case to be made that new rangers owe this FOOTBALL debt to the league.
