Exactly.

Theres no way there was more than 20k there. And that was with thousands of free tickets and 2000+ NI fans.

Looked half full to me.

More fool SFA if they're inflating their attendances. Assume this is so they have to pay more tax.

28,000 empty seats would be more accurate. No way was it more than half full looking at the game on TV.

Surely if the stadium holds about 52000 and it was half full then 26000 would be about right therefore 28000 isn't really that much of a difference.

TV can be deceiving. NI section was pretty much full, North Stand I would say was 70% full, there were several full sections of the East and West.

28,000 is right.

It will be down to the financials. Clearly, the turnout would be very poor and the ticket prices even poorer - so what is in it for the SFA - nothing - therefore no game would be logical other than the possible benefit of a game for the team pre-ROI. I dont think Qatar would be an ideal warm up oponent. However, think about it this way... the Middle East has a very credible history of funnelling their mega-petro dollars into bribes and other channels to upset the logic balance and influence things to make things happen for their own benefit and nobody else. How else could Qatar end up with the World Cup? I am guessing that if Qatar want to play Scotland, they will make the financials right for the SFA to pocket some money and play whenever and wherever Qatar want. Qatar could probably influence the result too if they wanted to.... It is truly sad to see the entirely disrespectful and greedy position that the $FA have adopted with the Tartan Army.

No doubting most of your points. Have to push back in influencing the result.

IMO this is a marketing tool for the Qataris, an opportunity to get their "brand" exposed in the European and UK Market. Nothing else.

They are looking to normalise their team and the actions of their FA. I expect to see more of this as Qatar drop out of qualifying and will want some high profile friendlies.

This seems to have come about since the big-wigs went on their jolly to Doha.

No doubt Scotland need a game for match sharpness, one not too challenging and one more for fitness. I guess they fit the bill.

It would be barking say for example to arrange to play England say before an important qualifier, who would do that?

Are we not getting a little bit arrogant, thinking that Quatar are not good enough opponents for us ? In the last International break, just over a week ago, they beat both Algeria and Slovenia, both 1-0, neither of whom would be walkovers for us. In the last year they beat Australia (1-0) and Estonia (3-0), so I think they are a lot better than some people on here are giving them credit for.

I think they may actually be exactly the type of opposition we want in a warm up for the Ireland game !

Any idea how many imports pay for them ?

I guess it depends what you mean by 'imports' but according to wiki their last squad had 8 players born out with Qatar. Our last squad had 6 from outside Scotland!

There 8 were made up of 2 x France, Bahrain, Senegal, Kuwait, Sudan, Algeria, Egypt and DR Congo.

Doesn't matter what's good for the team, it's about what's good for the fans! Or so you'd think.

Playing Northern Ireland was probably a good choice given our next game, yet the most common reaction after the announcement was how uninspiring a choice of friendly it was.
