Flora MaDonald
Was at Elgin v Raith yesterday and the steak pies were so good I had two. Not sure who the supplier is but I think it's a local butcher. I was at a 60th in the Eight Acres Hotel and a local butcher was at my table. He claimed to supply the fitba pies. Canna mind his name, but he was a cracking lad if that's any help

AberdeenAngus
No mention of Robertson's of Arbroath yet? Pretty sure they supply the pies for Gayfield. Steak pies are superb, Steak & black pudding ones not too shabby either.
thewelk
Used to like a good macaroni pie back in the day. These days I wouldn't go near such a carborific nightmare. It's literally been years since I had a real scotch or steak pie. Need to fix that at Christmas.

jimstroma
Its years since I've had a macaroni pie, do you still get them ?Aye, some fitba grounds even sell them. I know there was an outrage last year when Greggs stopped selling them.

kumnio
Usually get a couple of steak and gravy pies from Matthews on Caird Avenue, Dundee, which are excellent, however I was passing Falconers on Happyhillock Road, Dundee, which were terrible, no gravy, just dry steak and pastry
The Laud
Its years since I've had a macaroni pie, do you still get them ? Sell them at raith rovers. Flora MaDonald
I found a spring and a screw in a pie years ago, and have rarely touched one since.
Orraloon
I found a spring and a screw in a pie years ago, and have rarely touched one since. Sounds like a watch went through the mincer. I wonder if the watch's owner was still attached to it at the time?

flynnyboy
http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/472632/Hairy-Bikers--steak-and-ale-pie Made this a couple of times over the last few weeks. Proper magic! It always tastes better home cooked but strangely is never very economical with the core ingredients costing more than one you get out the butchers. I love cooking though so it's worth the extra expense for the experience and the added flavour. Anyways the recipe is a piece of pish to follow. I'd recommend giving it a bash. macy37
For the best steak pie it has to be McQueens in Rothesay. Just magnificent. In fact McIntyre's is bloody lovely too.
thistle do nicely
I tried making scotch pies this week. They were rotten, pretty much lamb burgers in a pie case. I didnt add any noses or anything so the meat content was too high. Gutted

simonmk
Just finished off a Pollock Williamson order thanks to this thread. The Scotch pies were amazing. Proper Scotch pies, no gristle, slightly peppery, really enjoyed them. Living in England so long, you can only really get Bells Scotch pies from Morrisons, and they're really not that great, so it made a smashing change to get the real deal. We also had a family sized steak pie, which was just beautiful as well. Lovely crispy fluffy lid, soggy underneath, and steak that melted in your mouth. Thanks to whoever it was who recommended them, will be placing another order soon.
