I'd suggest everything having a word with themselves and leave the troll alone.

There are two or three contrarians polluting the board at the moment and are doing spectacularly well.

Good point, well made.

Blocked.

(not you!)

..... yet!

No, because she is dense, can't talk properly and is a socialist, which means she doesn't know anything about economics or history.

We should have more people in parliament who have been bullied at supermarket tills into confessing their support for political parties they don't acually support.

11224268_409675045886647_821770865496295From Mhairi B;ack's diary.

I joined Marks and Spencer as a Graduate Trainee in the early 1990's. They had a separate dining room for Managers at Argyle St, Glasgow. I was given a telling off early doors for sitting with the 'shop floor' staff. Anyone more senior than you had to be referred to as 'Mr' or 'Mrs' etc....I left after 6 months. They thought they were god's gift to industry.

Aye, that all very well, but I find Scunnered and Mario to be quite entertaining at times.

Interesting choice of words.

A contrary or obstinate person(as modifier): a contrarian investor; contrarian instincts.

A person who takes an opposing view, esp. one who rejects the majority opinion, as in economic matters.
Personally, I'd want my MP to spend his time chippining away at other MPs not chatting to the catering crew but whatever floats your boat.

You can't do both?

Not at the same time.

Informal engagement (like lunch, dinner, breakfast, water cooler, bar) are perhaps the most effective times to influence.

Is it really?

Yes.

It is all getting a bit tedious the way all some people just want to criticise.

What how dare other people criticise your party. Good job you don't criticise.

Based on normal wisdon, academic teaching, badger knows how many leadership and influencing couses, 25 years of working in industry.

Even if that's true I don't think it's a bad thing to go against what normally happens at Westminster based on where are now

Bit hard of reading aren't you?

Not at all but, from your above post, you are finding typing with clarity of meaning quite hard.

Utter pish!

Nothing important gets sorted out in a works canteen at lunchtime.

And that's based on 25 years of attending meetings, courses, conferences etc. You can meet new people but you don't influence a decision maker over a chip butty or caviar on a cracker.

Only academics who've never had a real job could think that.

As part of a minority, you can either choose to get inside and mix it up on substantial issues or you can sit and have a go at ettiquette.

Its not like an aparthied bus.

I'm not suggesting that the lassie should ignore the crew in the restaurants but the harsh reality is that, in the short term, they are not going to drive change. Choosing to sit with them rather that chase a chance to influence is a lost chance IMO.

Your chat must be terrible if that's the case.

Informal meetings are about a million times more effective than formal ones.
