ErsatzThistle
It's been noted by a few posters in the last couple of days that this squad only had three players from the Scottish Premiership in it. This may probably be the lowest amount of Scottish based players, if not the lowest, that there's ever been.Is this at all concerning to you or are you not really bothered ?So for the sake of it, what Scottish Premiership players (we'll add Hibs, Hearts & Rangers into this too) are currently good enough to make the Scotland sqaud in your opinion ? I realise of course some players maybe won't be playing in Scotland after January. From Celtic, Brown, Gordon and Mulgrew have got to be stick ons. At Aberdeen, Reynolds will be a back up for a while yet with Pawlett and Jack on the fringes. Whilst from Dundee Utd, Armstong and Mackay-Steven also are on the fringes. Do you see any potential internationals at clubs like Killie, Motherwell, Partick Thistle, Dundee etc ? Is there even a case for young lads like Lewis McLeod or Jordan McGhee at least being invited to train with the senior squad ?All opinions welcome
deecie
Nicky Löw. He's the player Darren Fletcher used to be.
Paulo2576
Of all the players available to play for scotland, GMS is the one.
zahana-oni
Couldn't give a monkeys what league or country they play their football as long as they are good enough. The more of our players that move abroad (overseas) the better in my opinion.
kmcca5
It sad but not worried.
Caledonian Craig
Ryan Fraser at Inverness Caley is spoken of very highly as well.
Goozay
Not really surprising with Rangers, Hearts and Hibs are all outside the SPL, plus this is hardly turning out to be a vintage season for Celtic.
Bzzzz
I don't care as long as they're Scots.
jimstroma
Brown, Gordon and Mulgrew are the only 3 good enough for the squad at the moment. A couple of younger players will come through, but sadly, when they are good enough they will not be playing in Scotland unless its at Celtic or Rangers

Angus_Young
Burke, Bryson, Gauld, Dorrans...take your pick. Should be in before Burke certainly, although i don;t actually rate him as good enough either. From the current picks I think Strachan has it just about right. Chesney Hawkes TA
Sam Nicholson will be in the squad in the not too distant future.
Tartan blood
Sam Nicholson will be in the squad in the not too distant future. Not heard much about him.Are there any other Hearts players you think have the potential to be internationals? (I'm assuming you're a Hearts fan)
flynnyboy
Mark Reynolds showing YET AGAIN that he ain't any where near international level. His distribution, which has always been his downfall, was there for all to see again. He is showing his league one form again. Very mediocre player. Decent season last year but he should be no where near a Scotland squad. Shows the weakness in the squad in that position. Cue the Aberdeen fans jumping on this. He ain't good enough. No where near. ErsatzThistle
Any of the young Scots defenders at Hamilton worth keeping a close eye on for the future ? Now before anyone starts, I am absolutely not suggesting we should be throwing them in against Ireland and England, definitely not. Surely though if Hamilton were to end the season in the top six or even qualify for Europe then Ziggy Gordon, Stephen Hendrie and Michael Devlin have done something right ? Looked decent enough young defenders when I've seen them play. I'll admit to not having seen these two guys play yet but have heard positive things about Jordan McGhee at Hearts and Robbie Muirhead at Killie. Any others Scots based players at least worth a mention ? As I said it's not about them being picked for the next squad, but rather with an eye to the future. I hear what you're saying but scottish football (our own league) is at an all time low so it's hardly surprising. I am surprised that GMS isn't in more squads though, especially when Burke is picked who is older and not as effective. I guess it's all about GMS not moving on to a higher level though
Pool Q
Nicholson can't get into the Hearts starting line-up at the moment. I've liked what I saw of him earlier this season, (he's pacy and direct) but he's playing against' all due respect, shyte. Wilson is the only Hearts player that is currently anywhere near international level, but even with him we need to get back to the top league first so that he can get some sort of challenge week in, week out. ZoltanBuchan
Is Graeme Shinnie good enough to be a back-up left back? Can't be any worse than Whittaker, surely?
one t in scotland
The fewer Scottish based players the better. If you're over 21 and playing for anybody up here bar Celtic then you're not an international player.
