Alternatives To Dublin

Dublin being the rip-off that it is, we're staying in Cork and getting train to/from Dublin on matchday....great flight deals available with Aer Lingus from Glasgow and Edinburgh....train return Cork/Dublin is 50 Euros and takes aboot 2Hrs 45Mins.

Oh, and the Cork TA have promised to look after us well!!

Staying in Cork, really? Bizarre if you ask me! City of the game is important for away games, mates stayed in Edinburgh last week and they regretted it big time.

Don't know about that I stayed in Szczecin for the Euros and thought it was the best idea ever. I'd recommend any Scots to stay in Galway or Cork and travel to Dublin for matchday. You get a more authentic Irish experience in either city. One issue is the trains don't run that late in Ireland but the bus would take 3 hours and they run through the night.

Galway.Galway. Galway

Aye, great city. Full of 'young ones' (burdz!) at university, and great tourist industry so loads of great pubs/clubs. Party city. 10/10, will visit again.

Edit: Last time i was in Galway (few months ago) we found a pub that sold pints of Tennents for 2.50 euros. Aye, two-fifty, in Ireland. Cheaper than Scotland ffs! What's not to like :D

Cue......who's running a bus to Cork thread ?

Sounds like a job for Helen?

I've spent summers in all three and wold take Cork for the added appeal of proper beaches and watersports along with it being a nicer city to spend a day walking around. Festivals in every Irish city every smmer so they're all good craic. Live in Dublin so not talking through my hole although I too am biased. TA be welcome anywhere regardless.

Not at all - I stayed in Hamburg for the game in Dortmund - I like the quiet life. I've been to Dublin numerous times, so I'm considering Cork as I've never been there. teecee- is organizing an outing to the races at Clonmel (departing from Cork), which makes it an even more attractive proposition.

Cork City have the largest home attendances in the league and have now signed ex celtic and HIBS midfielder Liam Miller, even though bray wouldn't be the biggest attractions, Cork has one of the best match day atmosphere in the league.

The same liam miller that left parkhead for old trafford. Must be a decent age now.

Likewise.

Went to Bruges day of the game in Brussels.

Like doing other things whilst away. Racing at Chepstow, Oya Festival in Oslo etc.

Actually based in Donegal for this game.
