Relationship With Cars

Recommended Posts

Why do people have real affection for their cars? Nearly burst into tears this morning as my Sedona of 10 years got uplifted by the scrappy. Ridiculous to have emotion for a piece of metal, but felt like a real loss.

Farewell trusty steed!

Have never owned a car, never really wanted one, which means my midlife crisis is struggling to find an outlet!!

Don't think I have that certain male gene that gets some folk hot and flustered over cars, motorbikes, IT equipment, hi fi's or other technology. Leaves me pretty cold and uninterested.

Was quite sad when I knocked over a vase I've always quite liked last week - damn think near exploded, so can't even glue it back together. Pure gutted!!

Never really bothered me. I punted my first car to a neighbour and saw him cutting about in it on a daily basis. My other cars I've sold back to the dealer and added cash to get a new one.

My last one had a dent on the roof where a golf ball hit it. Waited till it was pishin doon and took it for the mandatory inspection before they bought it back. Due to the rain they never clocked it, so no deductions made, and came away with a lovely new motor. Was glad to see the back of the old one. Couldn't get out the showroom quick enough.

Don't get it, I am sure most of it is down to marketing.

Can't get my head round why people spend 2-3 times annual salary for a mode of transport.

I've never really felt attached to a car by I do enjoy cars and driving. Although the latter is becoming harder with our increasingly congested roads.

The folk that have never had a car and never learned to drive, this behaviour is foreign to me. I couldnt wait to get to 17 and get my license and a car. Freedom to go where I want when i want.

I've got zero interest in home diy or gardening but I'll happily spend an afternoon replacing the brake pads and discs on my car and changing the oil.

I guess folk just have different interests and hobbies at the end of the day.

Never owned a car but I've been known to greet when First Bus Glasgow have withdrawn a service and it takes me half an hour longer to get home.

I only get a bus as an absolute resort - it is never a pleasant experience.

I've got a car even though I only use it a couple of times of week - I can't justify having one but it is a useful thing to have for the odd weekend I'm not in the pub - an expensive remedy for cabin fever.

BMW drivers are s.

nothing to do with the thread but just thought I'd say.

Audi drivers a are bigger khunts these days

Cock cars.

I cried when I traded in my daffodil yellow Hyundai Amica. Her wee headlights and front grill looked like a wee face smiling at me every morning I raised the garage door. When I drove away from garage in new car her wee face looked sadly at me as if to say, "Why? When did I ever let you down?" Cried all the way home and never liked the new car, was happy when I traded him in.

Cock cars.

I think it's more those that drive them that are cocks rather than the cars themselves

It's a shame that BMW's instil that stereotype as they are cracking cars - superior than the Audi

I feel it too when i see someone in one but i'd still like one so it must be a jealousy thing - not that i couldnt afford one, just that as someone else said, i couldnt justify paying that sort of money for one and the running costs/expensive wear & tear bills that come with it

I also find it odd that while BMW & Audi have that effect on those that dont drive them, Mercedes Benz dont

All that said i've been thinking of getting a second hand Merc or BMW later on in the year :-))
