Ladbrokes New League Sponsor

Recommended Posts

Had a look at what the old deal was, and appears to have been £10million over 5 years, but that was just the top flight.

Aye im sure it was £2m a year as well. And a quick google seems to suggest Irn Bru were paying £1m a year for the lower leagues?

Ironic how our National Leagues and main Cup competition now have major gambling firms as their sponsors at a time when players are getting fined/suspended for betting on matches.

I don't really get that argument.

Appeared to be used almost as a defence for the players found guilty.

Plenty clubs and competitions have been sponsored by alcohol companies, it wouldn't excuse a halftime pint of cider for the players.

The rules on betting are probably a bit OTT, but that removes any grey area, and shouldn't be a massive sacrifice!

I'd happily give up my Saturday coupon to play professional football!

Why don't they just have a rule that prevents you betting on the team you play for losing?

Doncaster's ramblings on Sportsound last night were cringeworthy. I was a wee bit disappointed in Tom English as I thought he would have gave a far rougher ride than he did (granted I only heard the last half hour)

I've only listened to some of it but Doncaster is so infuriating. You're right, English wasn't hard enough. He should've been armed with more ammunition that Doncaster couldn't brush off.

I didn't hear Doncaster last night but this morning on the sports news they were reporting that he said there were too many fixtures. Was that from the interview with English? A few years ago when he was asked about changing to a top league of 16 he claimed they couldn't because there would be too few fixtures. Why the change of opinion? The cynic in me wonders whether the SPFL are now pondering a top 16 for some reason.
