Auld_Reekie
Whether Salmond is standing in Westminster is pretty important in this vote. Hosie as deputy is kinda pointless if Salmond shows up in the Westminster village in May. For this reason, and others, a Westminster deputy doesn't really make sense for me. Constance and Brown will be my 1/2, just not sure in what order yet.

Toepoke
If you look at deputy leaders of parties in government they are rarely seen as one of the two most powerful figures in that party. Nicola Sturgeon is a bit of an exception in that respect...
Flora MaDonald
The thing is, the 3 of them seem like decent people, unlike the Labour mob.
Ally Bongo
Was a struggle. Like them all and will have no complaints with who wins Went for Constance Brown Hosie Mainly because Constance is most unlikley to win of the three
thplinth
Hosie Brown Constance Ditto - Hosie comes across the best by far.
Orraloon
1 Hosie 2 Constance 3 Brown Although I'm not sure their was any point in nominating a number 3. Probably just a waste of a keystroke.
Lamia
Make your own mind up: http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-angela-constance-msp/ http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-keith-brown-msp/ http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-stewart-hosie-mp/ After 3 hours of political interviews, I went with alphabetical order. I like Keith. He's capable, reliable, does the job he's given and seems like a person rather than a politician. . I watched and did the same

Alibi
Brown, Hosie, Constance for me. I feel that having a leader who is an MP is not ideal, especially if Salmond goes for a Westminster seat. Brown always comes across well and talks sense with no bullsh1t.
Auld_Reekie
Stewart Hosie elected as Deputy Leader. Have to say Im quite surprised by this. Thought an MSP was certainty, most likely Keith Brown. I had Hosie last of the three.
McDange
Might not be a bad thing to have the party deputy in Westminster if there's likely to be a surge in SNP MPs? Surely that doesn't make him DFM though? Thought it would have to be an MSP for that? So many acronyms!
Auld_Reekie
Yeah, he wont be Deputy First Minister - that will be someone else. Will seem pointless having a deputy leader at Westminster if Salmond stands in the General Election. Not convinced by Hosie as Deputy Leader but look forward to being proven wrong. I had Hosie last of the three. I never thought it would be anybody else. Easy to say that now I suppose. Is there a breakdown of how the voting went and how close it was? As has been said before, we were voting for deputy leader of the SNP. We weren't voting to elect the Deputy First Minister.
giblet
55/45 on the last split between Hosie and Brown. I voted Hosie/Brown/Constance in that order.
Maq
What happens when Salmond becomes an MP as well and overshadows Hosie at Westminster? Will Angus Robertson get sidelined?
Armchair Bob
What happens when Salmond becomes an MP as well and overshadows Hosie at Westminster? Will Angus Robertson get sidelined? If Salmond becomes an MP again, even if he isn't deputy leader, he will still be the one all the journalists go to for a quote.
scoobydoo
Stewart's wife should be DFM Edited November 14, 2014 by scoobydoo
Toepoke
55/45 on the last split between Hosie and Brown. Keith can keep wearing his badge then Stewart's wife should be DFM They could then rename the SNP the Murrell-Hosie party... iainmac1
This is purely a party position. It does seem a bit confusing to some though. Had Constance won deputy leader she wouldn't have been deputy first minister. There will now be a different deputy fm, my money is on Brown. As I said a week or so ago I thought Hosie would become deputy leader and Brown deputy fm. What confuses things further is that Hosie doesn't want to be the leader of the Westminster group. He wants Robertson to remain as that. And if Salmond becomes an mp he probably wouldn't take the position in name but would be the de-facto leader of the group in a sense
Lamia
Didn't think Hosie could get more smug but I was wrong

iainmac1
Herald reckons John Swinney will be DFM He already said he didn't want to be leader ever again so have a feeling he might want to stay away from this position as well.
