Craig Gordon is the best 'keeper we have.

All this "Marshall hasn't done anything wrong" chat baffles me. Do folk want to play a lesser player out of some bizarre sense of loyalty?

Your opinion is clear cut I'm just not sure if Gordon is better than Marshall.I like them both.

Marshall probably won't be at Cardiff by the start of next season.

Anyway, he's not disappointed for Scotland during Strachan's time in charge.

No he hasn't let us down but that isn't my point. Gordon is playing at a better level than Marshall both at club level and performance level and that surely should count for more than loyalty or sentimentality. Again I will say whoever we have between the sticks I have confidence in (McGregor, Marshall or Gordon) but just feel Gordon merits the place more at the moment.

Why should Marshall be dropped if he hasn't done anything wrong ? More to that, he's done great in goal since Strachan took charge.

That's not sentiment. It's common sense.

Unless of course people still hold a couple of stupid friendlies he played in ten years ago against him ....

Because Gordon could be the difference between 1 and 3 points in Ireland for example.

No I have diddly squat against Marshall as I've pointed out three or four times now. Marshall has done nothing wrong that is correct but there again the same could be said of McGregor and Gordon for us. That being the case we look to club form and Marshall is back from a six week period of inactivity, McGregor has even been displaced by Harper a few times whilst Gordon has been grabbing headlines with top displays and for that reason I'd want the form man in the side and not someone there because he hasn't let us down when none of the top three have either.

Marshall done well against them in Glasgow. He's put in excellent displays away against Poland (twice), Germany and Norway.

Whilst we're on it, McGregor done well against Croatia, home and away.

Marshall should keep his place.

He did. But a great goalkeeper can make saves a very good one might not. Gordon is on form and Marshall has been injured recently.

Marshall is back playing now and will have several games between now and the Gibraltar and Northern Ireland games to get fully fit. We shouldn't alter a winning Scotland team until it's necessary.

All three keepers may get games against Northern Ireland and Gibraltar anyhow.

Gordon should be eased back into the team. Not thrown in the deep end.

Wanting Marshall dropped is up there with people wanting Maloney dropped purely because he went to America.

You aren't listening Ersatz. At no point have I said I want Marshall dropped on any grounds other than we have another goalkeeper in better form, playing at a higher level and to boot has stacks more experience at international level s well so 'dropping him in at the deep end' defies logic. I am of the belief that if the player is in form for their club that is more meriting a place in the team than one who (has missed a month and a half) but should get the nod because he hasn't let us down. Remember that neither have McGregor or Gordon let us down.

Gordon has proved time and time again that on his day he will make saves and gain potential points that I don't think McGregor and Marshall can compete with. There's strong evidence that Gordon is reaching that level of performance again.

Lets see how Craig Gordon gets on tonight against good opposition where he will have much more to do than normal. Has barely been tested all year!

Yes we all know Gordon has done well in Europe this year, the game vs Inter will be big test for him if he does well home and away he'll do himself a lot of good.

As much as it really pains me to say it, most weeks, the Championship down south is unfortunately a somewhat better level than the Scottish Premiership. Week in, week out, Marshall gets more a lot more action than Gordon.

I love Craig Gordon but it's been years since he was last a regular for Scotland. How can we be certain he'll take his Celtic form to international level regularly again ? We can't. That's why he needs to be slowly eased back into the side.

Marshall for me. And again, it's not guaranteed he'll be playing for Cardiff next year.

Surely this would be the perfect opportunity to "ease Gordon back in" a friendly against a team of similar quality, probably slightly poorer, and a qualifier against a team we should be gubbing.

If you had actually read one of my earlier posts, I had already alluded to all three keepers getting games against Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

Ah but here we have the can of worms. What happens if Gordon plays against Northern Ireland and lets nobody down then surely it means the shirt is his?

When I'm referring to Marshall in this manner I am referring to his ability to successfully cope with intense pressure on his goal. He's proved he can do that.

Going by your logic there, then if Stuart Armstrong, Gary Mackay-Steven, Ryan Jack, Ross Tokeley or whoever came in against Northern Ireland, scored a goal and won the game for us they should be in the starting line up in Dublin.

Gordon can do it, we all know that. However been a few years now since he last had one of those games for Scotland. The game against England was his first cap for four years. It's certainly not a criticism of Gordon, as he Marshall and McGregor are probably all good keepers and about equal in ability, but Marshall has played well and should remain our No 1 keeper in the meantime. If his form dipped alarmingly at club level (which it hasn't) and/or he started making damaging mistakes for Scotland then he should be obviously be dropped.
