Bemused with the 49ers draft to say the least. Armstead in the 1st round makes sense with Justin Smith almost certain to announce his retirement in the near future. Would be perfect if he played one more year so Armstead could learn from him.

The rest of the draft makes very little sense though. In desperate need of an inside linebacker after the retirements of Willis and Borland and the uncertainty around Bowman after a year out with injury, but instead went for an outside backer when there are already 4 good ones on the roster. Other needs are cornerback, didn't pick one, and wide receiver, picked one but is currently injured.

Instead spent a 2nd round pick on safety Jacquiski Tartt, who is quite highly rated, but SF drafted safeties in early rounds the last 2 years. Drafted 2 tight ends when there already 6 on the roster, and also picked a punter when in Andy Lee they already have one of the best in the business. Unreal.

According to GM Trent Baalke they picked the best player available regardless of position, but that makes little sense when you're trying to rebuild a team.

Deflategate report out

Tom Brady cheated

Belichick and Kraft not involved

http://www.tmz.com/2015/05/06/wells-report-we-dont-believe-patriots-cheated-in-deflategate/

Can see big fines, suspensions and loss of draft picks heading to Boston any time soon!! Cannot believe Belichick wasn't involved, has previous for cheating, sorry, bending the rules with the spygate affair, but imho this is worse than the bountygate scandal and the Saints never got off easy there so.......

I think Brady is guilty, but I dont think it has been proven, and the weasel worded way it is put across in the Wells report leaves room for manoeuvre on discipline. I dont understand why they didn't release detail of the discipline at the same time as the report instead of leaving Brady hanging. I sometimes wonder if Roger Goodell attended the Neil Doncaster Leadership Lecture at that university in Leeds. Anyway, I welcome the impending Garoppolo era...

"It is more probable than not" Definitive stuff there. I assume he will get a ban commensurate with punching a woman unconscious in a casino.

Was watching NFL today and they explained that the 'more probable than not' shouldn't be taken literally and it's a term that is used within the NFL rules as a point where punitive action can take place. So by them saying that, it actually equates to more of a 'we have found evidence to our satisfaction'. And by all accounts quite a bit of the evidence is fairly damning towards Brady's active involvement.

Assume they will look at a suspension and a significant fine but the biggest damage will be to Brady's reputation - America seems to be able to forgive rapists, wife beaters and even murderers but they have a real problem with cheaters. So Tom might find himself on the outside of the Hall of Fame for a good few years to come - which given his talent, is a real shame.

Its just actually mental

As a Jets fan it would be easy to have a poke but as TT says, as much as i hate the guy it's only because he is so good

Thats what makes it ludicrous - Absolutely no need to seek any illegal advantage when you are the best thats ever been

I know it's more of an aid to who is catching it than throwing it but still

Madness

I always thought it was to help stop the RB fumbling, but it seems Brady was really particular about it. I still think the report is a joke, full of qualifiers that wouldnt stand up in a real court, not that any of that matters when it comes to NFL discipline. give him a 4 game ban, we'll beat the Steelers and Jags, and lose to the Bills and Cowboys. Then Brady comes back and destroys the Colts in a 'revenge' game in week 6.

LOL

Was it not something similar with the Saints ?

They were found guilty on allegations more than anything

Seems to be their line that ignorance is no defence

The NFL/Goodell just seem to make up their disciplinary procedures and judgements as they go along. And they have been embarrassed a few times recently, so will have to try and get this right, under a lot of scrutiny and pressure.

On another note, its nice to see the Patriots reestablish their position as the NFLs most hated team after a sustained challenge from the Seahawks. And I am going to the Tennessee game in December, which will now hopefully have more riding on it than otherwise might have been the case.

To be fair the Jets have been quite consistant towards you for years ......

As hard as it is to say when it comes to offensive entertainment the Pats have done their bit during all of the regular seasons i can remember give or take the odd couple of games

They are bloody marvellous for Sunday night handicap betting

And thats the last good thing i'll say about them ...ever

That is ridiculous. Deflation of footballs is worse than intentionally injuring players? Cool.

I would say so. The Saints took a violent game and offered incentives for bigger hits, the Patriots have looked for a competitive edge, cheated in a game - the NFL hates cheats. The league hammers players using PEDs so teams should be dealt with in the same way. Also, Payton and Co had no knowledge of what Williams was up to in New Orleans but got hammered so Bill and co cannot expect their ignorance in this situation to save them either. Given the Patriots are a more fashionable team than the Saints I'll expect Goodell to go easy here, he won't want to ruin Brady's legacy...

I doubt the fair and proportional punishment will be increased.

Carolina tamper with the ball - a warning

Minnesota tamper with the ball - a warning

San Diego tamper with the ball - fined $20,000

New England tamper with the ball - fined $1,000,000 and docked a 1st and 4th round draft pick.

and

Brett Favre does not cooperate with the NFL - $50,000 fine

Tom Brady does not cooperate with the NFL - 4 game ban and a defacto $1,880,000 fine in lost wages.

And Goodell is now potentially a witness, judge and jury. It'll be a show trial.
