Lamia
I have been using Safari on my Macbook since I got the Macbook but it now can take over 2 mins to load a page when you launch it. It then usually works fine for a while or even the whole session but sometimes it stops loading again randomly and takes even longer. I downloaded Firefox some time back because of issues previously but after the last update it now refuses to allow me to update to the latest version telling me I don't have permission. It also loads like a device through applications which seems odd to me. I am not sure if there is a better browser I could download of how to fix the ones I have - any advice appreciated. harrystarfish
Try clearing the cache in safari to see if that helps. Also sounds like you might have disk capacity issues, what usage does that show if you click the apple in the top left and 'About this Mac', then Storage. I will have a look at the storage thing when I get back to it.

Guest BlueGaz
Sounds like one of two issues Lamia. It could either be the disk space almost full as mentioned above, or, you have a plugin that doesnt like working with Safari. If its the storage, only 2 options, upgrade or move/remove as much data as you can from the disk to empty it up a bit. If its a plugin, you could try the following: Safari > Preferences > Extensions Turn them all off, reboot and see how it is. If it is better, you can either leave them all off or start to turn them back on one at a time to see where the issue is. Also, you could try being logged on as a guest, which will disable all your normal "stuff", so at least you can narrow down the possibilities. If it works well as a guest, then we know the issue is with your account.I would also always recommend using Chrome on the Mac, as it works really well now. But if you are set on using Safari, let me know how you get on with the above. I have however logged on as Guest and it works fine so now I am a bit stuck again but it is obviously something to do with my account. Guest BlueGaz
But but but all my Mac fanboy mates say apple products don't get viruses.... Of course they do. But to put it into perspective, in May this year there had been 48 million new viruses found this year so far, and 98% of them written for Windows, so the chances are hugely reduced, although it does happen from time to time. Guest BlueGaz
Decided to make an appointment with the Apple shop as I am never going to figure this out myself Thats probably best as there are lots of things that can be checked using Terminal to find the issue. If it works ok in Guest, in the meantime, you could try the following from the normal account. Delete the cache.db for Safari. users/library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ Check the size of it and delete it. Also delete the folder fsCachedData and then restart Safari. What anti virus are you using? not Norton by chance? If so, get rid, if not, try running it to find malware or something else. Without access to Terminal thats all i can think of at the moment. Good luck.

Charlie Endell
I've got a virus on my Mac it's called U2 I remember starting a thread about that - I was scared to cross the road in case I got knocked down and someone found U2 on my phone - the embarrassment - fortunately Bono and co. were safely quarantined. OLAS
Chrome is faster than Safari and easier to manage if something like that happens. Many more extensions too, such as Ad.Blocker, which you shouldn't live without
