Toepoke
So just a few years after scrapping the revamped Nimrods despite £4bn being spent on them, we're now having to buy 9 patrol aircraft from the USA... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-34898079
redstevie007
Interesting news, as up until a couple of days ago those of us at Lossie thought that it would go to Waddington in Lincolnshire. It seems the medium term future of Lossiemouth is secure though, so good news for the local community.

Like you say, training in Vegas and regular trips out there thereafter. The twats get the flying suits, badges and all that bollocks for what amounts to playing an ultra-real PS game. I could tell you where they are but then I'd have to kill you

To be fair if it was true i'd have already saved the galaxy with my 1337 skills.

Ally Bongo
George Osborne Verified account @George_Osborne We'll treble firepower of UK's 2 new aircraft carriers by 2023 by investing in F-35 stealth fighter jets, meaning capability 2nd only to US F35 described as most expensive and least functional military jet in history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-35_Lightning_II
phart
F35 was described to me as a total con, something like half a billion each and they are totally shit, like they just made shit to make money, the military equivalent of rogue trader. Bristolhibby
One thing that puzzles me about the P-8 is this was announced as if there is no competition in the market. What competitive process got us to this decision? I watched the sleek and capable Kawasaki P-1 at the RIAT this Summer and it had 4 engines. No mention of that. Didn't think you could dispense with competition in such a blase way. J
