Devo Max Is Off The Table

That means ruling out so-called Devo Max. Such a plan which would devolve everything bar foreign affairs and the Armed Forces is a complete non-starter.It is incompatible with remaining part of the United Kingdom, so the SNP needs to make it clear that this of off the table.

Meanwhile, Boris just enjoys making puns out of the name 'Salmond'

Devo Max is never off the table until the next referendum. It should be the backbone of 'yes' campaigning. Although at best 1 in 4 voted 'no' due to the 'vow', the failure to live up to 'devo max' or 'as close to federalism' etc. provides a great opportunity to show up the 'no' parties as the liars they are & get more anti-Westminster & pro-'yes' on board. This process should leave the indy stuff on the back burner in the short term before coming back stronger.

Should be a Yes coalition fighting the general election. The groups are all in place. Look at the different seats and put the Greens in at Hillhead for instance, maybe even give the socialists a go at a couple of the Glasgow seats. We should stand on a platform that we require Devo Max, nothing more, nothing less.

If we can get 20 plus seats that has the potential to hold the balance of power at Westminster. This can force the hand of gaining Devo Max. If we get Devo Max, then after 5 years with this power it will feel a natural move to go to full independence. If we dont hold the balance of power, that movement can then be used to fight the Scottish election with a platform of Independence as Westminster will have failed to deliver.

We could be looking at an indyref in 2018.

I doubt even 5% fell for THE VOW. I've yet to meet one No voter who switched from Yes because of it...

Aye cos they are going to admit they believed it.

I would say to ant No voter that regardless of whether they were swayed by the vow that if the 3 parties were prepared to come together to vow something and the day later they start to renege on it then what dopes that tell them about their joint agreement on refusing a currency Union? Oh and in general what does it tell you about their trustworthiness on any of the issues.

Ruth also sai the SNP have to participate "in good faith' - I would say go f*ck yourself you are the ones reneging on promises and you expect participation good faith. It seems that she is going to try to paint the SNP as the bad guys if they insist on demanding what was guaranteed.

Don't get me wrong I'm in total agreement here. Even if <1% bought into THE VOW, the Unionist parties need to be held to task over it...

I think we need to make up a wee image highlighting the quotes from people promising Devo Max so that when Westminster turns around and says no one actually promised Devo Max we can challenge it.

Gordon Brown and many others from Labour said it, The tory on questions time said no if's, no but's Scotland would get Devo Max, many Lib Dems have said it etc

My guess is that while the number of people who switched from Don't Know to No over The Vow is minimal, and even less for those who switched from Yes to No, The Vow may well have firmed up a few previously hesitant No votes.

Brown figuratively waved 'the vow' like Chamberlain returning from Munich.

The papers and media trumpeted it from the rooftops, the TV news channels spunked all over it, and Darling and Cameron couldn't open their mouths for a week without referring to it.

Without Brown's intervention and his solemn promise of 'the vow/lie', the No campaign might well have crumbled in the last week.
