What bars would the Tartan Army suggest we go to for pints on a Thursday night. We'd be looking for an old traditional bar with a bit of life in it. Any suggestions? Also what bars would you suggest before the game near Celtic Park? Old style bar with a bit of life in it? The Iron Horse, Horseshoe or McCuill's would be my shout. First two are right in the City Centre. Nothing wrong with the Iron Horse - In my opinion, usually have a good hour or 2 in there before heading to the Ferry. Going to the Barras this time as it's handy for Celtic Park. Plenty of decent boozers to choose from.....and most will have a good atmosphere. Horseshoe is usually decent too. Maggie Mays would be a decent shout for the Thurdsday night - bands a re usually decent, decent beer and a decent pub. And fairly central - Argyll Street. Some of the pubs that have been mentioned on here are atrocious (Goose, Merchant for example) especially for a Thursday night if you are wanting a bit of a normal Glasgow night out. For a mixed group I would say the Merchant City area of Glasgow suits all and is in the centre. http://www.merchantcityglasgow.com/ Babbity Bowster is a nice relaxed pub and would be good to start your night. You can also eat in here. http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/babbity-bowster-glasgow Rab Has is another nice pub. Quite small but does very good food. http://www.rabhas.com/ Blackfriars is a very good pub that has a very good selection of ales and lagers. Sometimes has live music but at a level where you can still chat and hear yourself think. (I love going to gigs but bands in pubs do my nut in). http://www.blackfriarsglasgow.com/ If you want curry then this place is my favourite in the area http://www.dakhin.com/ OR If you want to go to West End which you will probably miss out on game day then there are good places here too. It's where Glasgow Uni is based. The Lismore is a nice pub on Dumbarton Road.
