McVinceSCT
Hi, I'm coming with 4 friends for the Poland game and we are searching somewhere to go to spend a day out of Glasgow. We've already been to Edinburgh and Loch Lomond, and we would like someething like a true fishermen village, or a touristic small village in the country, easilly reachable by train from Glasgow... I've already been to Arran and think one day is far too short to do it again. - Largs? - Stirling? - Other places? Many thanks for your answers. You have the castle, Wallace monument and the Bannockburn visitor center which is quite new.

Ayr is also an hour from central but has a lot more. And you could easily jump down to Alloway and do the whole Burns touristy thing. Charlie Endell
Thanks for all thses answers. What about Millport island (boat from Largs)?I like Millport but apart from hiring a bike and cycling round Cumbrae (about eleven miles and pretty much totally flat, so it's easy going) there isn't much to do. Armchair Bob
Aye, why not Rothesay? If it is the right time of year, you can even get the Waverley paddle steamer from the centre of Glasgow. (ach just checked - it's not on the Clyde this autumn) http://loveofscotland.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/isle-of-rothesay.html
