  1. To add to the good news it looks like Tierney is no longer Real Sociedad’s first choice left back. Didn’t get off the bench at the weekend. He’s less likely to be overplayed and injured I suppose. But he could do with a couple of starts over the next month.
  2. Agree to disagree. We need to remember most people aren’t like you or I or the rest on this forum. A lot of football fans and players won’t grow up watching a national teams, let alone attending home or away games. It’s just so unlikely that someone like Livramento or Adams were passionate England supporters (especially because they have mixed backgrounds). And that’s why they’ll happily and proudly play for us. But fair enough if they are passionate English fans, and turn down Scotland call ups (obviously Adams didn’t do this and is a successful player for us). So I’d always hope that a Scottish qualifying player wants to play for us.
  3. Doesn't mean he would very happily play for Scotland too. He might end up playing for England but I hope he doesn't. If you have a choice to play for a number of countries at youth level and have lots of people advising you at a young age it it makes sense/is understandable that you play for the team with a better set-up/facilities/stronger coaches/players. And this is true even if they have stronger ties to Scotland, see Fletcher's sons, K Dembele, Jensen Weir etc.
  4. Some players because of their heritage/where they have been brought up would be proud to, and would give 100% to representing more than country. It’s not that difficult. We should support these players unless they actively don’t want to play for us (Gordon and probably Barnes fall into this category). I don’t think anyone is suggesting that they have any right to play for us over England. From interviews and reading about Livramento, he’d be proud to represent 3 countries. We should obviously be hoping he plays for us.
  5. To be fair we have Che Adams who has a much stronger pedigree and has a very similar goals/minutes ratio in an outlier season for Szomodics. Conway is also much younger and a pacy, off the shoulder type striker. I’d much rather have him and Adams.
  6. I know I was pessimistic above but there’s still a high chance they’ll get to the final play offs and will likely be playing a team like Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic or Finland. These are all 50/50 ties and we’ll hopefully have Weir, Watson, Thomas and Hanson back who will make a big difference going forward.
  7. Excruciating, not just tactically but technically too. Most women’s national teams have stepped up a level the last 6 or 7 years but we have clearly regressed. A partial excuse is the list of missing players but performances like that have almost no positives.
  8. Yeah obviously good enough for our under 21s. Looks like he’ll also be, or close to, Blackpool’s player of the season. Which is not bad for a 21 year old. Not sure if Brest will keep him next season given that they’ll likely be in the champions league. I’d imagine he’ll go to an English championship club, and hope for similar game time to this season. (And a place in our squad 😅)
  9. Lewis Morgan scored a hat-trick for NY Red Bulls against Inter Miami tonight. Miami’s team had Busquets, Alba and Suarez starting. Also bizarrely so did Robert Taylor who declined a call up for Finland to miss their Euros play-off so he could play in this game. A 34 capped, 29 year old in the form of his life…
  10. Don’t see why not. He was brought up here and played for our previous youth teams. Isn’t going to be called up by England. Described Scotland as ‘home’ in an interview the other day. Suppose playing for the African champions is pretty appealing but not any time soon I’d imagine. Bit weird that we called up than random league 2 Irish under 21 player who didn’t want to play for us but not Dembele.
  11. Fotheringham and Mulligan withdraw and still no Karamoko Dembele 😭.
  12. Thought he was much better than decent. Had cramp right at the end but won a header to allow the breakaway for the winning goal. And a goal and assist, quality player.
  13. Apparently needs an operation but Celtic want him to play with injections so he can delay it. From a Scotland perspective an operation now might mean he’d recover in time for the Euros? He’s possibly fcked for Scotland either way. An operation now might not give him enough recovery time and a delayed op will definitely mean he’s out…I can’t imagine medics for Celtic or Scotland will let him play with injections for 4 months.
  14. No Karamoko Dembele after 6 goals and 10 assists from 20 starts in league 1. Won’t be in England’s under 21s either. Great talent performing well for his age but not available or just not being considered?
